Habitat: In the winter, this bird can be found in a much larger variety of habitats ranging from mudflats, flooded wetlands, wet meadows and fields to various lakes and marshes preferring water less than three inches deep.
Behaviour: forage by jabbing or probing with a characteristic "sewing machine" motion in shallow water or on wet mud, often with their heads underwater and using tactile receptors on the tip of their bill to locate prey by touch.

Body Size : The body is up to 2.5cm Habitat: sandy beaches and mudflats during low tide to feed.
Appearance: A small, grayish-brown sand bubbler crab with a rounded body, robust legs, and elongated eyes.
Habitat: This species prefers sandy substrates over muddy ones, inhabiting the lower regions of sandy beaches throughout tropical Asia. It has been documented in locations like Port Dickson.
Feeding: Similar to the blue soldier crab, it is a deposit feeder that filters organic matter from sand.
Burrowing: It creates burrows, sometimes called "igloos," by excavating sand and forming it into spherical pellets to build a circular wall. It burrows to protect itself from the tide and traps a small air bubble to breathe.
Habitat: Rarely seen away from breeding grounds on coastal islands or small ponds in the Arctic tundra. Migrates offshore, heading for wintering grounds in Southern Hemisphere.
